Why does the man who found no guilt in Jesus condemn Him anyway?

Reflection

Where are you tempted to wash your hands of a decision you already know is wrong, rather than pay the cost of doing right?

Points to Jesus

Pilate washes his hands and says he is innocent of this blood (Matthew 27:24), but guilt is not removed by gesture — it must be carried by someone. Jesus stands silently before him and carries it, which is why Paul later points to the moment Jesus 'made the good confession before Pontius Pilate' (1 Timothy 6:13) as the pattern for every believer's own witness.
