Noah Bible Study Guide

Noah

Noah

Righteous in his generation; built the ark at God's command and preserved humanity and animal kinds through the Flood.

Teaching prompt

Why does scripture call Noah 'blameless in his generation' rather than absolutely blameless?

Reflection

What does it look like to live faithfully when your culture is going a different direction?

Points to Jesus

1 Peter 3:20–21 ties the ark to baptism and to salvation through Christ: as the ark carried Noah's family safely through judgment-waters, Jesus carries His people through the judgment they deserve. Matthew 24:37–39 also makes the days of Noah a picture of Christ's return.

Discussion questions

  1. Read Genesis 6:5–9. What does the contrast between humanity and Noah tell you about grace?
  2. Hebrews 11:7 says Noah built the ark 'in reverent fear.' How does fear of God produce action here?
  3. How does 2 Peter 2:5 describe Noah, and what does it add to the Genesis picture?
