Moses Bible Study Guide

Moses

Moses

Hebrew rescued from Pharaoh's slaughter; led Israel out of Egypt and received the Law at Sinai.

Teaching prompt

How does Moses' life hold together being a Hebrew, an Egyptian prince, a Midianite shepherd, and then a deliverer?

Reflection

Where has God used a 'wilderness season' in your own life to prepare you for what He had next?

Points to Jesus

Acts 3:22-23 and Hebrews 3:1-6 both name Jesus as the greater Prophet and greater Moses. Moses mediated an old covenant in blood at Sinai (Exodus 24:8); Jesus mediates a new covenant in His own blood (Luke 22:20; Hebrews 9:15). The Passover lamb of Exodus 12 points directly to 'Christ, our Passover lamb' (1 Corinthians 5:7).

Discussion questions

  1. Exodus 3:11-14: How does God answer Moses' 'Who am I?' with 'I AM'?
  2. Hebrews 11:24-27: What does Hebrews credit Moses' choices to?
  3. Deuteronomy 18:15-19: Whom does Moses say God will raise up after him, and how does Acts 3:22 read that verse?
