Daniel Bible Study Guide

Divided Kingdom · 616 BC – 538 BC (78 years)

Exile in Babylon; faithful in Nebuchadnezzar's court; received visions of the Son of Man and the seventy weeks.

Teaching prompt

How does Daniel stay faithful to God under three different pagan kings?

Reflection

Where do you most need Daniel's 'but if not' courage (Daniel 3:18)?

Points to Jesus

Jesus' favorite self-designation, 'the Son of Man,' comes straight out of Daniel 7:13-14, where He receives an everlasting kingdom from the Ancient of Days. Mark 14:62 has Jesus quote this verse under oath at His trial.

Discussion questions

  1. What does God promise about His own kingdom in Nebuchadnezzar's dream?
  2. Who is the 'one like a son of man,' and what does He receive?
  3. What does the prophecy of seventy weeks anticipate?
